Lana Tamaro is a NYS Licensed Mental Health Counselor, National Certified Counselor and a Board Certified Coach specializing in couples and individual therapy.  She maintains a private practice in Rockville Centre, Long Island.  Lana is also an adjunct professor for Pace University's Graduate Program. In addition she writes an advice column "Ask Lana" for a Long Island periodical.  

Lana received her Master's Degree in Mental Health Counseling from Pace University and did her Post Graduate work at the highly regarded Ackerman Institute for the Family. She specializes in Emotionally Focused Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Currently Lana is serving as private practitioner working with a broad spectrum of clients. Among her areas of expertise are marital discord, anxiety, depression, PTSD and conflict resolution .

In addition to being a prominent relationship therapist, Lana has presented at National conferences and to general audiences speaking on the topics of effective communication, strengthening relationships, as well as overcoming anxiety and depression.

Lana is an interactive, emotionally/solution-focused therapist. Her therapeutic approach is to provide support and practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal life challenges. She integrates complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client. With compassion and understanding, she works with each individual to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing.

Lana is a retired NYC Police Officer and during her tenure with the department she counseled members of the service with issues surrounding marital discord, work stress, family conflict, Anxiety and Depression, as well as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

On the weekends Lana can be found with her husband Richard at their weekend home on the Long Island Sound boating, entertaining friends, and visiting the local farms and vineyards.
